Fused Glass
Glass fusing is a hot glass technique where flat pieces of glass are fused together in a kiln, then formed to a desired
shape.

Firebug Designs is a mother-daughter owned fused glass business based in Boise, Idaho, started in 2004.  Patricia Carlson Callow is
from California but has lived in Idaho for most of her life.  She has two daughters; Chelsea and Meighan.
Chelsea Carlson works
works with Patricia in the design and creation of our pieces.  She has lived in Idaho most of her life except for a year she spent in
Hawaii discovering the beauty of island living.
Meighan Carlson Hymas is attending BYU-Idaho.  She is a fine arts major with interests
in painting and sculpting.  Chelsea and Patricia love to design glass items to enhance your home and add sparkle to your outfits.   We
enjoy creating quality unique items and receiving feedback from the public to encourage new ideas to help us improve our abilities to
provide better products.

All work is done in our studios in Boise, Idaho.  We began with a small kiln to create jewelry; however, it wasn’t long before we
purchased a medium and then a large kiln as we expanded to functional and decorative glass pieces.  We have taken classes locally
and in the Pacific North to deepen our abilities in glass fusing, design, jewelry, and wire wrapping.  We enjoy designing glass pieces
that are functional and offer visual variety to the observer.  We take our inspiration from our lifes’ experiences and the synergy of our
working and family relationships.

Our glass pieces are made using sheets of glass, stringer, frit, and powders, as well as incorporating dichroic glass, and gold and
silver leafing.  We have a variety of tools including standard glass-working tools, tile saw, ring saw, sand blaster, grinders, and molds
that are used in producing our designs.  Each piece is cut by hand and assembled individually.  Our designs include intricate geometric
cut sheet glass; beach, river, and mountain scenes combining cut and crushed and powdered glass and heat resistant fibre to create
bas relief, and silhouettes using crushed and powdered glass.  We purchase the stones, wall hanging brackets, wire, bails, and
Swarovski crystals used in our work.  We cut the stones into the stands for our table art.

Our Dichroic jewelry receives compliments wherever it is seen, from a night out on the town, the park, or at the local store.  Plates,
bowls, windchimes, sun catchers, sculpture, and family games are a sampling of our work.  Custom work is available upon request;
please allow 1-3 weeks for most custom work.
